Subject

The advancement of CDs

Description

The picture is of a 1988 Discman made by Sony a few years after they made the Walkman. The Discman was just like the Walkman only it could play CDs. CDs first came out in 1982 and quickly became popular due to their slimmer appearance and easier to carry around. The Walkman and vinyl did not have good quality music which was one of the reasons CDs became popular in the ’80s. CDs produced a higher quality sound and helped musicians and artists explain music was more than notes and lyrics. With easy storage and better quality of sound, CDs quickly overtook the music industry. CDs are still used today and many people have CD players in their cars and houses and listen to music through them and have also paved the way for digital music libraries.
