New Wave music is a pop music movement that consisted of the aggressive nature of punk with the addition of keyboards and dance beats. New Wave music was mostly played on the radio and tv station called MTV, but most things played on MTV were from Britain. The term New Wave also coincides with the word “Synthpop” which is just new music that uses synthesizers ( keyboard sounds). The significance of New Wave music was that it combined previous punk rock images with pop culture that has lead to the modern-day pop sound that we all know.
